Nach der Lektüre dieses Artikels, ward mir einiges klarer. Ich habe selbst noch nie die Top-Ten-Apps von download.com runtergeladen und installiert, wobei sämtliche Defaultcheckboxen gecheckt gewesen waren. Der Artikel sollte jedem Neurechner beiliegen

Search Protect and YAC and Spigot continued to fight it out for a while at this point… literally every few seconds one or the other would change the home page and then YAC would try to set it back. It’s like battle of the malware up in here. Taking all bets!

Allerdings kann ich dem Fazit des Artikels absolut nicht zustimmen, das da heißt "Don’t recommend freeware downloads", denn es gibt sehr wohl Malware-freie Freeware und wenn man die richtigen Quellen anzapft und nicht jeden gebundleten Dreck mit installiert, ist Freeware etwas Großartiges.
