I decided to make a tutorial because I search the past two days for a good one and I doesn't found.

Tutorial - Debrand C510

You will need:

Step 1:
Download and install SEUS for the drivers.
Step 2:
Download the A2Uploader.
Step 3:
Download the customize_upgrade.xml from the attachment and put it to tpa\preset\custom\ with the A2Uploader(Remove the battery then put it back, click "FileSystem tool" then hold the "C" and plug in your USB cable).

Resized to 77% (was 890 x 524) - Click image to enlargePosted Image

Step 4:
Remove the battery then put it back and start your phone and wait until you see your OP logo then turn off.
Step 5:
Start SEUS and select your phone (C510) click next then follow the instructions.
Resized to 85% (was 802 x 601) - Click image to enlargePosted Image

Congarts! Now you have a debranded phone!
Enjoy!

That is quite irrelevant for newbies. He made this easy tutorial and the XML file. Thats relevant. :)

This file can't be saved with Firefox 3.5. Right-clicking the link and selecting save link as, merely saves it as "index.php". Directly clicking it of course gives firefox an xml error but I can't figure out how to save it.

Strangely enough, the same version of Firefox can deal with the file just fine on a windows vista SP2 laptop. I used IE8 in the end anyway. Unfortunately, the debranding failed when I used SEUS. I got a message saying that the update failed. When I turned on the phone, all the language labels were gone and were replaced with numbers. Also, some default theme was in operation. I then re-updated the phone on this Vista computer and it was successful, but I'm left with the default network provider theme again. I can't check the tpa/preset/custom folder, as A2uploader crashes on the vista computer. The XP computer is at home 30 miles away... <-<

I really want to try this. A question though...Will the icons in the main menu be changed at all?? My handset has shortcuts to the bully boy wap browser that the company that branded the phone put there...will these be replaced if so what with. Sorry for the dumb questions fellas...I'm a total noob...Cheers

Yes. Unbranding the phone will make it the way :se: intended it to be, without all the clutter from your operator.

R1DA is obsolete FW, flash it again with SEUS. If you don't have the conversation messaging, you can always add it again :)

I was just wondering if this works with the Sony Ericsson C510a or just the C510i? Thanks.

Wow thanks for the quick reply. Another question that I just can't seem to find the answer to is if it is possible to de-brand a C510a while it is still locked. My phone is currently locked to Rogers and I won't really have the opportunity to unlock until next week or so.
