Bäh mir wird schlecht! Papst Johannes XXIII. hat laut Guardian im Jahr 1962 ein Dokument mit Instruktionen verfasst, wie mit Fällen von Kindesmissbrauch innerhalb der Kirche zu verfahren ist. Den Opfern wird unter Androhung der Exkommunikation ein Schwur abgenommen, Stillschweigen über die Angelegenheit zu bewahren:

They also call for the victim to take an oath of secrecy at the time of making a complaint to Church officials. It states that the instructions are to 'be diligently stored in the secret archives of the Curia [Vatican] as strictly confidential. Nor is it to be published nor added to with any commentaries.'

Und laut diesem Bericht bei Dailykos hat Papst Benedikt XVI., ehemals bekannt unter dem Namen Joseph Ratzinger, 2001 in einem Brief an die Bischöfe explizit darauf hingewiesen, dass diese Anweisungen heute noch gültig sind.
