February 16th, 2015, 14:15Dass ich das noch erleben darf! Ein paar Freaks aus Polen haben einen neuen Teil der Serie Castlevania exklusiv für den ZX Spectrum entwickelt.
(via heise)Even if Konami lost all interest in making proper Castlevania games, Dracula's Castle can’t be kept in the void forever. It just so happens, that this time fans were the ones to aid in it’s return.
It was originally invisioned as a „demake” of Castlevania II: Simon's Quest but eventually turned into an original independent game for ZX Spectrum.
Castlevania: Spectral Interlude is an action-adventure platform game with elements of RPG. It merges well known elements of classic games with some new ideas. It tells a new story which tries to remain consistent with the canon of original franchise and explains why Belmonts disappeared for many years.

February 10th, 2015, 22:12Vor lauter Windows hab' ich ganz vergessen dass es für OSX und Linuxe den coolsten Screensaver aller Zeiten gibt: das BSOD-Modul des XScreensavers. Yay.
Die Gesichter um einen rum, wenn das Ding anspringt, sind einfach zu schön 
nur die Solaris- und Androiddinger finde ich doof, aber die kann man ja auch deaktivieren.

Erinnert ihr euch noch an die technologischen Mandalas von Leonardo Ulian? Gislain Benoit hat das Ganze einen Level weiter voran gebracht und eine funktionierende Digitaluhr im Mandalalayout zusammengelötet. Sweet. 
(via maex)Simply named " The Clock ", this piece of art is not only doing what is supposed to do "keeping time" But also is visually extraordinary. What you see, is not only the time that it shows, but all of the electronic parts that you would find inside the microchip of a wrist watch if you would normally be looking through a microscope.
What is even more extraordinary is the fact that it has been hand crafted. The thousands of parts that compose it are soldered together in a 3-dimensional structure. There is no electronic board involved. The parts are linked to hold themselves and reveal the complexity of the circuit through the solid wiring that keeps them together which gives a visually astonishing result. The symmetry and density of its parts and interconnections has been kept uniform throughout the circuit. Every single part that composes the clock has its purpose. If you would decide to take out a single part of the circuit the clock won't operate properly anymore.
" The Clock " has digital pulses flowing inside every single wire and every single part. These synchronized pulses, all intelligently controlled and channeled through every circuit, is a binary "dance" of hundreds of bits of information coming and going from one section to another. All working in unison to display the flow of time.

Hat zufällig jemand von euch da draußen noch einen Texas Instruments TI-99/4A herum stehen? Dafür wurde gerade ein Webbrowser entwickelt und ich hätte ja zu gerne einen Screenshot von todamax auf der Kiste...

Arte zeigt morgen um 21:50 Uhr die Dokumentation Yps – eine kommunistische Erfindung? über die französischen Wurzeln des Gimmick-Comics im Magazin Pif Gadget. Die Doku gibt es vorab in voller Länge auf Arte Creative zu sehen, zusammen mit ein paar begleitenden Links.
Ich bin dann mal fernsehen.

PPS: YPS war dann insgesamt aber eben doch wohl der Marketingfuzziableger von Pif 
PPPS: über das 2000er YPS decken wir besser den Mantel des Schweigens.
...wohingegen relativ viele Erwachsene Yps immer noch kennen, äääh.. ihn als love-brand in Erinnerung haben, und das Schöne und das Schlimme an social media wie Facebook™ is' ja, dass man genau sehen kann, wer ähm.. sich da über die Marke unterhält und genau das haben wir ausgenutzt [sic! Anm. d. Red.], indem wir eine Yps-Fanpage uns angeguckt haben und gesehen haben: wie alt sind die Leute, die sich über Yps unterhalten, woher kommen sie, sind es Frauen oder sind des Männer, und danach haben wir das Heftkonzept entwickelt...
sprach er, eingerahmt von Yps-Logos und bekleidet mit einem Yps-T-Shirt. 
PPPPS: Irgendwie lustig, dass die Doku auf Arte mit Fragezeichen propagiert wird ("Yps – eine kommunistische Erfindung?"), aber gar nicht so heißt..
